PASTOR LAURIE ANN MOELLER. Tet. 29” Sev EMRe 6” 20 buds. This is a cinnamon peach blend with a nicely ruffled edge and green throat. It is a cross between MOON OVER MONTERAY and a Larry Grace Seedling. It is my best new plant this year! When it first bloomed in the garden Pastor Laurie noticed it and told me she liked it very much. So, the flower was named for her. I must note that the first several blooms are 8 inches, then they are seven inches, and for the remainder of the summer the blooms are six inches and above in diameter. I have had considerable success in using PASTOR MOELLER as a parent of new seedlings. It is just a gorgeous, must have flower. $150

MARY CHAPMAN HOWARD. Tet. 28” Sev EMRe 5” 15 buds. This is a pink with a gold edge above a yellow and green throat. It is a cross between ED BROWN and TAOS. Although this daylily is a semi-evergreen, it is close to being a dormant. It is also notable that the petal and sepals on MARY CHAPMAN HOWARD recurve such that the flower sometimes seems round in appearance. This daylily was named when Mary Chapman Howard and Harold McDonell visited out garden. Harold mentioned that Mary really liked the new pink seedling, and so it was decided to name the seedling for Mary. Notably, Harold is the hybridizer who brought us MARY’S GOLD and it was named for Mary Chapman Howard. $50

A STRIKE FOR MARGIE. Tet. 25” Dor. Mre 5” 15 buds. This is a beautiful pink that is just tough. It has been growing in South Dakota for two years, and if it can grow there, it can grow anywhere. I named it for my wife’s mother, Margie Giessinger. Margie loves bowling and so I named the flower A STRIKE FOR MARGIE. It is also a cross between ED BROWN and TAOS. The further north you live the more important the need to have this tough, hard dormant daylily. Also, I should report that I crossed A STRIKE FOR MARGIE with TET. SILOAM RALPH HENRY and the result was a gorgeous white seedling with plenty of green across the eye of the flower. $50

KENNESAW MOUNTAIN MOCHA LATTE. Dip. 25” Dor. EM 5” 12 buds. This daylily has a cinnamon self with a rose band that circles a beautiful, large lime throat. Although I have called it a cinnamon colored flower, some gardeners could call the flower brown. However, it is the beauty of the rose band and the large lime throat that really distinguishes the flower. It is a cross between MOUNTAIN ALMOND and SILOAM VIRGINIA MILLER. I am trying to convert the flower to a tetraploid, but it is certainly a flower to use to create beautiful diploid seedlings. $20

JOY FILLS MY HEART: Tet. 22" Dor. EMRe 25 buds. This beautiful yellow and green daylily does fill my heart with joy! It is the only plant I kept from over a hundred seedlings from the same parents. It is a cross between KATHLEEN SALTER and ATLANTA FULL HOUSE, and like ATLANTA FULL HOUSE, it is only pollen fertile. In other words, it is not pod fertile. However, it is dormant and so it should grow in colder climates and do well. $50.00

RED SKIES OVER KENNESAW MOUNTAIN: Tet. 29" Sev EMRe 5" 12 buds. This beautiful red daylily is tall and is very noticeable in the garden. It has a lovely green throat, and on every scape there is a naturally appearing proliferation. So, the proliferations can be grown and the plant can be multiplied quickly. The parents are DERRICK CANE and PEARL HARBOR. It is pod and pollen fertile. $50.00. |
