RED SAPPHIRE
Bill Waldrop 2010
[(Cherry Valentine x Crazy Ivan) x Cane Creek Falls]
Tet. Sev. Early to mid-season blooms. 31" tall, 5-way branching, 18 buds, 6" flower.
It took two years from seed to flower to see RED SAPPHIRE'S first bloom along with its five impressive branches. I immediately knew that it would be an introduction. It is a truly glittering daylily with a green throat and a large red diamond eye. Indeed, this red diamond eye helped me create the name, RED SAPPHIRE. The self has a deep, strawberry color, and then there is an obvious and gorgeous red and gold color on the edge of the petals. "Shark's teeth" are also found on the edge of the petals. Indeed, the shark's teeth, the diamond eye, and the distinct red and strawberry color make RED SAPPHIRE a "must have" daylily. Pod and pollen fertile.
