VARSITY ORANGE
Bill Waldrop 2009
(Summer Hymns x J. T. Davis)
Tet. Dormant. Mid to late season blooms. 31” tall, 6” flower, three way branching,
25 buds.
Diana has always liked the orange ruffling on this daylily and I also like the consistent, clean orange color. The orange color seems even more intense in the eyezone. I still remember when it first bloomed and it was noticeable apart from all of the other orange seedlings. It was distinctive. When I was very young I would go to the Varsity Restaurant in Atlanta and I would always order two chili dogs and a "varsity orange" drink. The color of the varsity orange drink is much like the color of VARSITY ORANGE. Pod and pollen fertile.
