VIRGIL'S SUSPENDERS
Bill Waldrop 2010
(Tet. Indian Giver x Wild and Free)
Tet. Sev., 38” tall, 3-way branching, 16 buds, 7” flower, Unusual Form.
The petals and sepals have cascading curls, it is very tall, and it stands the weather very well. VIRGIL’S SUSPENDERS has a green throat, a light burgundy eye, and then a darker burgundy color over both its petals and sepals. Importantly, VIRGIL’S SUSPENDERS also has a distinct ivory edge on its petals and sepals. In naming this daylily, I am honoring my friend Virgil Spence who was a large man who wore “suspenders.” Virgil had a big laugh, and a wonderful sense of adventure. I tried a case with Virgil, and then we talked about the case for many years. I miss Virgil, and so I’m using his name for this outstanding daylily. Pod and pollen fertile.
